Reliable Powerdown for Industrial Drives (R-PODID) (R-PODID)
The R-PODID project aims to increase energy efficiency and improve the reliability of power electronics systems and modules by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) deployed on embedded devices integrated into the power module.
The partners of the project will face the challenge from different angles: they will investigate specific AI algorithms and how to deploy them on resource-constrained devices; they will develop high-power semiconductor devices based on GaN and SiC technologies that meet the requirements of modern industry and e-mobility; they will develop innovative sensors and packaging solutions to collect real-time data to be used as input to the AI models and to improve the robustness of the power systems.
At the end of the project, several demonstrators will be realized and applied to industrial-relevant use cases, from reliable shut-down in industrial plants to traction inverters and efficient lighting applications.
