Postdoc
Electronic Components, Technology and Materials (ECTM), Department of Microelectronics

Themes: Biodegradable Technologies

Biography

Sourav received his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. degrees in Physics from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India. He earned his Ph.D. in Physics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi in 2022. During his doctoral research, he worked extensively on liquid crystals and liquid crystal nanocomposites for electro-optic applications, polymer-based energy harvesting devices and sensors, density functional theory (DFT)-based electronic structure calculations, and Landau-de Gennes free energy modeling of anisotropic soft materials. After completing his Ph.D., he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at IIT Delhi and served as an ICMS Visiting Fellow at the Department of Mathematics and Statistics, University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, in 2023.

In April 2024, Sourav joined the Shaping Matter Lab at the Faculty of Aerospace Engineering, TU Delft, Netherlands, as a Postdoctoral Researcher under the supervision of Dr. Kunal Masania. His work focused on additive manufacturing using liquid crystal polymers and the development of carbon-based porous electrodes for microbial electrosynthesis. He continues his postdoctoral journey at TU Delft and, in June 2025, started as a postdoc in the Biodegradable Technologies team at the Electronics Components Technology and Materials (ECTM) group in the Department of Microelectronics, TU Delft, working with Dr. Clementine Boutry. He is currently involved in the development of biodegradable tags and sensors as part of the Luchtvaart in Transitie (LiT) project, collaboratively led by Dr. Boutry and Dr. Masania, which aims to enable sustainable technologies for future aerospace applications.
